Bathroom exhaust fans are a simple technology that solves a very unpleasant problem – unwanted bathroom smell and moisture.
The smell can make your bathroom experience horrid, and moisture can easily cause damage and mold in your bathroom. To avoid these, a bathroom exhaust fan is perfect.
However, installing a bathroom exhaust fan is not as simple on the first floor.
There are two ways to install it:
- Mount it on the ceiling
- Mount it on the wall
The easier way to install it on your first-floor bathroom is to mount it on the wall. How? Let’s find out!
The Real Question: How?
To install the fan, you’ll need some things first, namely:
- A wall exhaust fan
- Cardboard
- Voltage tester
- Eye protection goggles
- Gloves
- Drill
- Screwdriver
- Ice pick
- Marker
- Handsaw
Cut Power Supply
Firstly, switch off the mains power supply in your house to avoid accidentally electrocuting yourself while dealing with electric parts.
Protective Wear
Then, put on the gloves and goggles, ensure the bathroom floor is dry, and choose a spot on the wall for your fan.
This spot should be high up the wall, should not be close to any pipes or wires in the wall, and it is better to have it on a wall opposite to the door or window.
Begin Marking
Next, trace the outline of the fan on the wall, drill holes on the corners and then, use the saw to cut the wall from one hole to another until that section of the wall is cut.
Drilling and Attaching
Now take the cardboard 7, align it with the fan, and drill holes as before to create a template for the fan.
This is to help you place it securely in the wall. When you attach the fan in the wall, mark locations for drilling.
Use an ice pick to help you out, and once done, use a screwdriver to put in the screws.
All Done
Finally, use a voltage tester to test the fan’s black wire and ensure electricity is turned off.
Now connect the black wire to the wires in the wall to make a connection with your house power. With this done, all that is left to do is switch your exhaust fan on!
Conclusion
